The PTA can also be a good resource for marketing to local parents.

Advertise In Community Newsletters

Beyond local schools, locations like YMCAs, daycare and community centers often circulate some form of mailer or newsletter to keep parents informed about upcoming events and activities for kids. What better place to advertise than in a publication mailed directly to the home of local families with young children?

Sponsor a Local Youth Sports Team

Another great pediatric dental marketing and advertising idea is to sponsor a local youth sports team. You’ll immediately receive the trust, attention and gratitude of the team’s parents. Dental Practice Marketing Through Local Schools

As a follow up to our previous post, Dental Practice Marketing Through Local Business Organizations, I thought I’d offer more free tips for marketing your dental practice through local elementary, junior high and high school programs.

Participating in these programs is cheap and easy and helps you market your dental office to a highly targeted segment of your local community.

Participate in School Fundraising Events

School FundraisingLocal schools are always looking for ways to fund their clubs, athletic teams and school field trips. Hosting a booth at a school’s seasonal fair or carnival is a great way to promote your practice. Goldfish booths and lollipop draws (sugar free of course) are always popular attractions, especially for young children who are always accompanied by their parents. At your booth, hand out coupons for free teeth cleanings or other special offers.

Sponsoring a car wash in the parking lot of your dental practice is also a great way to market your practice. It brings attention from the parents of the club or team your sponsoring, and the event’s participants and supporters. And by hosting the event right outside your dental office, you’re bringing local vehicle traffic right to your front door.

Attend Career Day at Your Kid’s School

Visiting your child’s classroom on career day or offering to do a presentation on oral hygiene for any elementary school class during health month is an excellent way to reach kids and parents in your local community. While you’re there, hand out free toothbrushes and dental floss along with a copy of your business card for the kids to take home and show their parents.

When marketing your dental practice to your local community, a little effort and creativity goes a long way. By getting involved in school events and programs in your area, you have a great opportunity to reach out to and help local children, their parents, and ultimately, your own practice.

Local business, social and educational programs and events can offer great opportunities for you to market your dental practice to your community. Here are a couple of ways to take advantage of the dentist marketing benefits that local business organizations have to offer.

Join the Better Business Bureau

Better Business BureauIf your dental practice has been in business for at least one year, you’re eligible to join the Better Business Bureau in your area. Once your practice is accredited, you’ll have permission to display the BBB’s logo at your dental office, on your website and in your print materials, offering your patients confidence that your business is both reputable and well established in your local community.

In addition to the benefit of displaying the BBB’s logo, your dental practice will also receive a listing in the Better Business Bureau’s Accredited Business Directory which offers both search engine marketing and offline marketing opportunities for your practice.

Join Your Local Chamber Of Commerce

Membership in your local Chamber of Commerce offers benefits similar those available through the Better Business Bureau. Although marketing and networking opportunities vary from city to city, most chambers will list your dental practice on their website, provide you with a plaque to post in your reception area and provide you with the option of speaking at chamber events.

To gain influence in your business community and take full advantage of the dental marketing and networking opportunities offered by your local chamber of commerce, become a committee member.
