TV’s Best Dental Commercials

September 22, 2008 by Erik Cunningham

I thought we’d have a little fun today and take a look at a couple of the best dental commercials ever aired on television.

If you’re a pediatric dentist and you’re considering producing a TV commercial to promote your practice, consider these famous dental commercials that appeal to both children and their parents.

Cavity Creeps Commercial

The Crest Gel Toothpaste Cavity Creeps commercial first aired in 1983 and has since become a cult classic.

Yuck Mouth Commercial

The ABC Television Network’s “Yuck Mouth” commercial also originally aired in the 1980s as a PSA for the ABC Saturday morning Bod Squad.

Many adults in their 30s and 40s can still recite these commercials word for word. For successful dental commercial and TV advertising ideas, don’t start from scratch. Take a page out of ABC’s and Crest’s playbook and people might be singing your tune today and 20 years from now.

4 Out Of 5 Dental Patients Recommend

September 15, 2008 by Erik Cunningham

4 Out Of 5 Dental PatientsWith the emergence of Web 2.0 and the growth of social media, consumer reviews on local search sites have become all the rage. More and more, dental patients are looking to their peers for guidance when choosing a local dentist.

Consumer reviews have the potential of either attracting or repelling new patients from your dental practice. The bad news is that patients are naturally more motivated to write a review about your practice if they’ve had a bad experience. Like cavities, bad reviews can eat away at your business’ reputation and hurt your bottom line.

The good news is that a proactive approach to managing your practice’s online reputation gives you the power to change that. Like brushing and flossing, daily maintenance and care for your patients, keeps your reputation clean and healthy.

The power to successfully manage the reputation of your dental practice lies in simple communication. By asking a patient, “How was your visit?” you have the ability to address any difficulties the patient may have had BEFORE they post it on the internet. If the patient had a good experience, you can take the opportunity to ask them to fill out a review card or recommend your dental office on your website or on a popular local review site. Offers for free teeth cleanings in exchange for feeback can also be a great motivator.

With a little bit of effort, you can become a five star dentist and leverage social media trends like local review sites to attract more patients to your practice. As with oral hygiene, the health of your online dentist marketing efforts is largely up to you.

Link to Others As You Would Like To Be Linked

September 8, 2008 by Erik Cunningham

Link BuildingI just wanted to write a quick post to let my readers know my linking policies on this Dentist Marketing blog. As I stated in my article, WordPress Plugins Say ‘No’ To NoFollow Links, I’ve removed the nofollow links in the comments sections of all of my blogs to encourage my readers to participate and to follow suit.

I personally moderate all of the incoming comments on my sites so I’m not worried about publishing link spam. That said, if one of my readers takes the time to leave a helpful comment, I’m happy to give them a little link love.

Dental Practice Marketing Through Local Business Organizations

September 6, 2008 by Erik Cunningham

Local business, social and educational programs and events can offer great opportunities for you to market your dental practice to your community. Here are a couple of ways to take advantage of the dentist marketing benefits that local business organizations have to offer.

Join the Better Business Bureau

Better Business BureauIf your dental practice has been in business for at least one year, you’re eligible to join the Better Business Bureau in your area. Once your practice is accredited, you’ll have permission to display the BBB’s logo at your dental office, on your website and in your print materials, offering your patients confidence that your business is both reputable and well established in your local community.

In addition to the benefit of displaying the BBB’s logo, your dental practice will also receive a listing in the Better Business Bureau’s Accredited Business Directory which offers both search engine marketing and offline marketing opportunities for your practice.

Join Your Local Chamber Of Commerce

Membership in your local Chamber of Commerce offers benefits similar those available through the Better Business Bureau. Although marketing and networking opportunities vary from city to city, most chambers will list your dental practice on their website, provide you with a plaque to post in your reception area and provide you with the option of speaking at chamber events.

To gain influence in your business community and take full advantage of the dental marketing and networking opportunities offered by your local chamber of commerce, become a committee member.
